Common Ukrainian Russian artists project WARNING! in Austria

WARNING! - Ukranian-Russian group exhibition will be held on 1st-30th October 2016 at FLUSS - Society for the Promotion of Photo- and Media Art (Wolkersdorf-im-Weinviertel, Austria, Schloss Wolkersdorf, Galerie 2).

The exhibition is curated by Ianina Prudenko (Ukraine).

Artists: Alina Iakubenko (Ukraine), Anton Lapov (Ukraine), Electroboutique (Alexey Shulgin and Aristarch Chernishov, Russia), Michail Maksimov (Russia)

«WARNING!» serves as a corridor to a dialogue between artists from the Ukraine and Russia. The artists reflect on the geopolitical situation of the past two years, using new technologies as their creative medium. The curator's interest in the project embraces anthropological research aimed at internal transformations occurring with human beings on both sides of the barricades. Works chosen for the project anatomically depict injures, phobias, disorders and neuroses acquired by human beings in the form of ideological liability, loss of critical thinking and self-identification, feelings of guilt, premonitions of disaster, morbid distrust. The presented works of Ukrainian and Russian media artists also criticize the maneuvers of the propaganda machine and restraints upon human freedom in the police state.

The open discussion «Beyond the propaganda», which will take place in Wolkersdorf as part of the «WARNING!» project, will open up possibilities for a transparent dialogue between critical discerning artists from both Ukraine and Russia. It is also intended as a platform for further collaboration. This will be the second open discussion between Russian and Ukrainian artists. The first edition of the «WARNING!» project took place in Lviv in October 2015.
